Parshat Ha’azinu by Kiera V.

Dvar Torah

This week’s parsha is parashat Ha’azinu. Moses is approaching the end of his life so he recites a poem to the Israelites emphasizing the importance of believing in the one and only God. He emphasizes the negative consequences if they don’t. God tells Moses to ascend to Mt. Nebo where he will die. Before he dies he is able to view the land of Israel but he is not allowed to enter it, because he got angry at God.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1) How do you think Moses felt as his last day approached?

2) Why do you think that God is referred to as “the Rock”? What are the implications of

this name?

3) The singer/songwriter says that there is “Nowhere for you to hide, nowhere for you to

run” – do you think that there is someone who sees and cares about everything you

do?

4) What was the lesson of allowing Moses to see the land of Israel but not to enter it?
